Introduction & Executive Summary (Armento)
Every day, our lives are affected by technology. But the effects of technology go much further than making a profit. Technology is also changing the way we work and live and also our values, our view of ourselves and of the world. Technology also affects international human resource management. This research paper reviews the business of SRI International, a non-profit corporation, and its human resource management initiatives and policies and it organization growth plans and initiatives.

For several decades, there has been a loss of manufacturing industries and jobs in the United States. The world economic recession and the expansive use of the Internet have further affected local and global business development. There have been many mergers and acquisitions among companies, as well as additional job loss with the outsourcing of jobs to overseas markets. If more innovative technologies can be developed and brought to the marketplace, new businesses and resulting job growth can occur ( citation ).

SRI International (SRI) is known worldwide as a major technological research and development corporation. The company's business is to solve problems using technical innovation through the effective use of patents and other intellectual property rights laws ( citation ). SRI International performs research and development, as well as new business startup business activities. The company's patents and technology transfer activities have created more than 40 spin-off companies. However, SRI's human resource management has been affected by the recession, too. It has experienced a reduction in business and in the number of its workforce. One other reason for the changes in its human resource management has been the integration of its businesses in the United States into one SRI Corporation over the past few years.
