Human Resource Management is a major component of any manager’s job. Human Resources is used as a component to ensure that a company or organization effectively uses their employees to accomplish their mission (Vermeeren, Steijn, & Tummers, 2014). The Human Resource department helps managers implement strategies within the company. Human Resource managers generally focus on staffing, performance reviews, career planning, and financial compensation. Human Resource employees are considerably referred to as staff employees because their main job is to support the line employees. The Human Resources department in an organization is considered to be one of the most important costs in an organization. In an increasing cost competitive environment, using a company’s human resources effectively can have a climatic effect on its ability to survive. Human Resource management’s main goal is to increase performance with in an organization (Vermeeren, Steijn, & Tummers, 2014). Resource strategy helps gain or maintain and edge over its competitors in the marketplace (Gomez-Mejia, Balkin, & Cardy, 2012, Chapter 1). A policy or program that helps with the advancement of a company’s strategic goal is known as a human resource tactic. Human resource strategies focuses on work design, staffing, performance appraisal, career planning, and compensation (Gomez-Mejia, Balkin, & Cardy, 2012, Chapter 1). Human Resource managers face many challenges. There are environmental challenges, organizational challenges, and individual challenges. Environmental challenges pertains to things outside of the corporation. This type of challenge has a great influence over the organizations performance and is out of management’s control (Vermeeren, Steijn, & Tummers, 2014).
