1. What is Human resource planning?
Human resource planning links people management to the organization, mission, vision, goals, and objectives as well as its strategies plan and budgetary resources. A key goals of HRP is to get the right number of people with the right skills, experiences and competencies in the right jobs at the right time at the right cost.

2. What is strategic planning?
Strategic planning is the process of taking inputs (information), organizing and making sense of that information, and producing an output (the plan) that covers a long period of time, and maps out the strategies, goals, and objectives for that period of time, that are expected to keep the organization focused, unified, and likely to succeed in the future, and over a long period of time.

3. What is strategic human resource management?
SHRM can be defined as the linking of the HR with strategic goals and objectives in order to improve business performance and develop organizational culture that foster innovation, flexibility and competitive advantages. In an organization SHRM means accepting and involving the HR function as a strategic partner in the formulation and implementation of the company’s strategies through HR activities such as recruiting, selecting, training, and rewarding personal.

4. Explain the linkage between strategic planning and HR planning. The link between a company ‘strategic planning and HRP:

Mission (Determine what business the organization will be in)

Objectives & Goals ( Setting goals and objectives) ↓
Strategy (Determine how goals & objectives will be attained) ↓
Structure (Determining what jobs need to be done and by when) ↓
People (Matching skill, knowledge and abilities to required jobs)

HRP in actual fact will provide the ways for an organization to achieve its strategic planning. Strategic planning of acomp0any on the hand will determine the HRP needs (did for employees) which will then be compared with the availability of HR in the environment both internal (within organization) and external (outside organization) The success of an organization’s HRP actually depends largely to how the HR department of an organization integrate effective people planning with the organization business mission and goals.

5. What is environmental analysis
Environmental analysis is a basic marketing function used to help marketers identify trends or outside. Forces that may impact upon the success or failure of a particular product. Markets will look at the economy, political situation, cultural forces, social conditions, competitors and legal and ecological factors when affecting an environmental analysis.

6. Explain the external forces that influence the management of HR? External forces are an external to an organization that affect the organization’ performance but are beyond the immediate control of an organization.

An external force that influences the management especially HR planning because each organization must draw from the same labour market that supplies all other employers. The impacts of environmental changes on business consider the following: a. Decentralization – transferring responsibilities and decision making authority from a central office to people and locations closer to the situation that demands attention. The internet will extend its role by helping companies to decentralize faster by improving the communication flow among the workforce minimizing the dependency on the bureaucracy. b. Downsizing – Normally, the company will down size to reduce the size and scope of its business to improve its financial problems.
