What is Human Resource Management (HRM)? HRM is the effective management of people at work to achieve the goal “make workers more satisfied and productive”. HRM plays a very important role in managing, controlling, developing, and maintaining workforce who significantly contributes to the existence and profitability of the organization. They are in continuous contact with the top-level management of the establishment and are responsible for assisting the management for running the processes efficiently. They are also responsible for attracting skilled workforce, and carrying out recruitment and induction procedures, training and development, and settlement of the employee in a particular work environment he is comfortable in.When an organization is concerned about people, its total philosophy, culture, and orientation reflect it. Every manager must be concerned with people, whether or not there is a human resources department. HRM is the management process involves the following functions: planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. The “people” or personnel aspects of management jobs involve conducting job analyses; planning labour needs and recruiting job candidates; selecting job candidates; orienting and training new employees; managing wages and salaries; providing incentives and benefits; appraising performance; communicating; training and developing managers; building employee commitment; being knowledgeable about equal opportunity, affirmative action, and employee health and safety; and handling grievances and labour relations.

The management of people hired by an organization involves employing people, designing and developing related resources and most importantly, utilizing and compensating their services to optimize business profitability via employee performance. Today, Human Resource Management operates in tune with other essential organizational requirements and co-exists with the topmost management cadre. Managing human resources within a company calls for a liaison between the organization's management personnel and the administration of the executive rungs. It thrives on the strength of the relationship between the management and workers of the company. HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING

An organization cannot build a good team of working professionals without it. Human Resource Planning is one of the functions for HRM. Planning is very important to our everyday activities. Several definitions have been given by different writers what planning is all about and its importance to achieving our objectives. It is amazing that this important part of HR is mostly ignored in HR in most organizations because those at the top do not know the value of HR planning. Organizations that do not plan for the future have less opportunity to survive the competition ahead. This article will discuss the importance of HR planning; the six steps of HR planning that is: Forecasting; inventory, audit, HR Resource Plan; Auctioning of Plan; Monitoring and Control.

Quoting Mondy ET (1996) they define it as a systematic analysis of HR needs in order to ensure that correct numbers of employees with the necessary skills are available when they are required. When we prepare our planning programmer, Practitioners should bear in mind that their staff members have their objective they need to achieve. This is the reason why employees seek employment. Neglecting these needs would result in poor motivation that may lead to unnecessary poor performance and even Industrial actions.

Planning is not as easy as one might think because it requires a concerted effort to come out with a programmer that would easy your work. Commencing is complicated, but once you start and finish it you have a smile because everything moves smoothly.
