How to Prevent Climate Change

The change in climate is something we are all facing. We sometimes hear of winter days becoming longer in some states and summer months becoming hotter than usual. All of these changes are contributed to the choices we make in our day to day lives; do we recycle, are we conscious of our surroundings, etc. Would I consider this to be an issue of morality? Yes, I would. Everyone has the responsibility to be aware of their surroundings. We each must take a part on how we treat the planet, i.e. loitering, driving cars with extreme exhaust fumes polluting the air, cutting too many trees down, which keeps rain away. Our community deals with lack of rain on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, no one really considers certain factors as to why there are more drought moments as they are moments of extreme rain. Trees are a major factor as to how much rain we receive. In an article written in titled How Trees Works for Us-Take a Look, it was written that “Trees help create rain as they expel moisture into the atmosphere: their roots draw it from the soil and their leaves return it to the air.” That is a perfect statement as to how trees help the climate but yet they are taken for granted. Our community is full of areas where trees are being cut down to build homes and shopping malls. Do we need another shopping mall or another home complex when there are so many? And more often than not, there are too many being built one location. As sad as it sounds, it is all about the bottom line then preserving our environment. What can the community do to alleviate the cutting down of trees, which is by far an important issue in our community? It’s all a question of awareness. The majority of us doesn’t know or are not aware of what it takes to build a home or another shopping mall. True, we all know that trees are to be cut down in order to make wood but do they realize that the lack of rain is associated to the lack of trees? I would guess to say that...
