“Do Not go Gentle into That Good Night” portrays Dylan Thomas’s abrasive standpoint towards giving in to death, particularly about his father, and at the same time exhibits an immense amount of use of metaphors, imagery, and symbolism all the while illustrating a sort of enraged yet pleading tone.

This poem embraces Dylan Thomas’s emotions towards his fathers deterioration of health due to his old age(“And you, my father, there on the sad height,Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.Do not go gentle into that good night”.). They are repeated over and over again in each stanza throughout the poem. He is highly crafty with his use of symbolism, For instance The sun in this poem (as well as its absence) not only represents life and death, but a catalyst of all beauty and positivity in the world as well(“Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way”,.).
