Abandon: Old Age and Parents

I felt worried that nowadays, there is this increasing number of the elderly being abandoned by their children. This makes me ponder over what the society is becoming now. Personally, I felt very sympathetic with those abandoned aged people. As parents, they had tried to provide the best that they can for their children when their children were young, such as taking good care of their health and satisfying most of their demands. However, their children forsaken them when they grew old because the kids found them useless and getting in their way. Even if their children visited them, the reason might be because they want to get some money from their parents and once they achieve their motive, they simply left in a rush. Such situation was indeed very saddening. As children, it is our responsibility to take good care of our parents when they had aged. They are the ones who worried about us throughout their entire life and remain by our side when we are going through the ups and downs of our life. Now that we had grown up, it should be our turn to repay them by being filial to them. We should shower them with lots of love to let them feel family warmth and feel appreciated, take care of their daily needs and be patient with them on whatever they do. Even though these actions may seems insignificant, the elderly people are contented with just these simple actions carried out by their children and it brings a smile on their face whenever they see their children. We should put ourselves in their shoes before we ever entertain the thought of abandoning our elderly parents. How would you feel if you were the one being forsaken by your children instead? This is a terrible feeling and experience which you would definitely never had wanted to go through. If we did not want such situation to happen on ourselves, all the more we should not abandon our parents.
